WALK IN THE PARK (2019)
Walk in the Park is a crossbreed performance, something between a musical concert, a stand-up show and a spoken-word event. The work was created using the electric guitar my Auschwitz-surviving grandmother gave me for my Bar Mitzvah. With this guitar, and with a vocoder that twists my voice with different effects, I speak/sing through a fragmented collage of words that explores themes of gay desire, Jewish identity, everyday distractions and end-of-the-world dread. Wanderlust mixes with anxiety, humour and an urgent desire for beauty and connection. Walk in the Park takes a flaneur-like approach to texts that explore the banality, the stupidity and the mysticism of everyday life, proposing to find relief in a kind of meditative hysteria.
